I think we can all agree that summer is the best part of the year! The first thing that comes to mind is summer vacation, BBQ, and pool parties. The summer rays haven’t been too kind to us lately, so we would like to share some tips to help prevent you from being defeated by the sun.
Sunscreen Your best friend this summer is sunscreen! If you spend most of your day outside, make sure you lather up before you expose your skin to the ultraviolet exposure. Even if you don’t burn easily, wearing sunscreen is still important. A sunburn is a reaction that can occur almost immediately, but sun damage to the skin occurs over a lifetime. Everyone has the same risk to potentially get skin cancer if they are not careful and aware of precautionary measures.
Heat Exhaustion Noticing the signs of heat exhaustion is very important. With a little knowledge, you can spot the signs and symptoms to prevent it from happening to you. Some symptoms include confusion, dizziness and fatigue. If you think you are experiencing any of these symptoms, try to find a shaded area and take a break. Try soaking a bandanna or your hat in cool water and place it on your head. Move to an air-conditioned room or if possible remove any extra layers of clothing. You should seek medical attention if your symptoms are severe, get worse, or last longer than one hour.
Stay hydrated It’s important for you to notice the signs of dehydration. It’s imperative that you stay hydrated this summer and know how to defeat the heat. Always keep a bottle of water with you and some fresh fruit. Not sure what fruits work best to keep you hydrated? Check out our previous article on “15 Ways to Eat Your Water”. Drink before you’re thirsty! If you need to quench your thirst, chances are you’re already dehydrated. Your best defense against dehydration is drinking water on a consistent basis. That way you never reach the point of thirst and you are keeping your body healthy.
Here at Results Staffing we value safety! If you see something say something and share these tips with your friends, family and co-workers. We have to stick together if we are going to beat this summer heat!
